Centre approves Rs 650 Crore grant for Maharashtra SC student scholarship


The Central Government has sanctioned Rs. 650 crore for the Maharashtra Scheduled Caste (SC) students scholarship. This scholarship will help the students to pursue higher education without facing any financial issues. The central and state governments have provided an annual fund to the scholarship in 60:40 ratio.

The Minister of State for Social Justice, Suresh Khade said that the Union Ministry of Social Justice has sanctioned Rs. 650 crore as grant for the SC Students Scholarship. He also added that the state government has already provided its share of 40 percent of the funds.

During a meeting conducted in Delhi, the central and state ministers conducted as a discussion on the higher allocations of funds for the scholarship of the SC students. The Union Minister of State for Social Justice, Ramdas Athavale was also present at the meeting.

There are several scholarships being offered to students belonging t the reserved categories. Through these scholarships, students from the SC/ST categories are given an opportunity to complete their higher education with ease without worrying about the financial expenses attached to it.

Recently the ONGC announced a scholarship scheme for the meritorious students from the SC/ST category. The students will be provided with financial support to pursue their higher education in professional courses like medicine, engineering, MBA and Masters in Geophysics and Geology.
