For various schemes of the Social Welfare department, including scholarships and pensions, the varied income limit will be increased and made uniform at minimum Rs 4,000 per month. This direction was issued in a meeting chaired by the State’s Social Welfare minister Yashpal Arya to review works of the department here on Thursday.
Chairing the meeting, the Minister directed that in scholarship cases, all the district social welfare officers must complete verification of received applications by February 20. Departmental officials informed that the department was not finding beneficiaries under the Atal Away Yojana since the provision of amount is higher under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Considering this, officials were directed to submit a proposal with increased amount under the Atal Awas Yojana. Further, officials were also directed to present a proposal to the cabinet regarding upgradation of government Ashram system schools in the State.
Officials were also directed to inspect condition of hostels under the department and present a status report. Coaching facilitated by the department will also be extended to include coaching for all state-level competitive exams whereas so far this was provided only for IAS, PCS, engineering and medical fields. Coaching institutions will be selected by March 15 for provision of coaching for SC-ST students. Stress was also laid on expediting the work of making special identity cards for specially abled persons. Additional chief secretary Ranvir Singh and other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
